Reasons Why You Need A Virtual Assistant

Love blogging, but stressed to your limit? Here are some reasons why you need a virtual assistant.

So, you've decided to start your own blog, your own business, or both. Congratulations! It's wonderful being able to live the American Dream.

I know, because I'm doing just that!

And it's an amazing feeling. Being able to stay home with my little ones, not having to report to anyone, making my own schedule, drinking a margarita in my pajamas at 2 o'clock in the afternoon if I want ... not that I have, but you get the picture. Earning passive income is a blessing in my book. I remember when I met my husband and I told him my dream was to be a stay-at-home mom with my own business. Little did I know, it would come true.

Because of social media (especially Facebook), my blog grew like a weed in the beginning. But it wasn't without blood, sweat and tears. There were times that I felt so overwhelmed and just wanted to give up. But, I stuck through it, and began networking with other bloggers, eventually discovering the world of virtual assistants. Thank goodness for them, right!?

When I first hired one, I was running a coupon blog. Now, if you know a little about the coupon blogging world, you know exactly how crazy it can be. It's one deal after the next after the next and so on and so forth. It never ends. While that's always great for business, it's quite stressful for one person to work on alone. And that was just the deal post aspect of it. You also have to take into consideration the site maintenance, the social media management, answering emails and requests, possible interviews, product reviews, other unethical bloggers stealing your work (DMCA requests)...the list goes on and on. It was a small business, but with only one employee. I just couldn't do by myself any longer.

Hiring a virtual assistant was one of the best choices I could have made for my blog at the time. They posted all the deals, and I was able to focus on other aspects that needed to get done. It was glorious. I owned that blog for 5 years, and even went as far as to rebrand. But, just like extreme couponers get burnt out on clipping and cutting, I got burnt out on posting about, well ... coupons. There are only so many times I can post about getting free Colgate toothpaste! I realized that wanted do something more.

In February 2014, the idea of The Blogtress was born, but I didn't do anything with it until October, 2015. I ended up selling my coupon blog and just taking a break. I posted fun stuff on my "hobby" blog, learned photography, and continued networking with other bloggers.  It was such a nice feeling to not have to keep up with the Joneses by trying to be the first coupon blogger to find the deal and share in a mass email so my site would get all the SEO juice. Gosh, that was tiring. But, let me back up, I got a little off track.

I started this blog, and my own virtual assistant business, because I love helping others. I've been blogging since the early Livejournal days, dabbling around in web design since 1998, and even helping others with their blogs for the past four years. Starting my own VA business just made sense. I've learned so much over the past 17 years that I just want to share it with everyone! And the awesome part is, it's all been self-taught. I didn't learn it from a textbook. I learned it firsthand by trial-and-error, watching others, and absorbing all the information I read about online. What is it, you ask?  Blogging. SEO. Social Media. Analytics. Marketing. Accounting. Taxes. Writing. Web Design. Graphic Design. Networking.
